Most of today's news is Virginia-specific, and it's muddier than the headlines suggest. The State Corporation Commission signed off on Dominion's next version of net metering, and two outlets read the outcome as largely preserving what customers have now — pv magazine describes NEM 2.0 as looking very similar to NEM 1.0, and Solar Builder frames it as protecting compensation rates. At the same time, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports the solar credit rate will decline, and the Bay Journal says the benefits of rooftop solar could change next year. If you're in Dominion territory, the practical takeaway is that the math on exported power is moving, not frozen.

Separately, advocates are raising concerns that a Dominion-NextEra merger could affect rooftop solar savings; that's a live question, not a settled one. Fairfax County now leads Virginia in installations, and there's a discount program open to Virginia households worth checking. Nothing in today's headlines changes anything for D.C. or Maryland homeowners.
